Fitted with a separately purchased MC400 modular modem—such as the MB-MC400-5GB—the R1900 gains a second cellular radio, allowing SIMs from two carriers to run simultaneously with automatic failover. That dual-carrier design is standard practice for ambulances, patrol vehicles, and transit fleets, where a single network's coverage gaps are unacceptable. The switched Ethernet ports handle the rest of the vehicle: cameras, mobile data terminals, printers, and telematics gateways connect locally without an external switch taking up space and a separate power feed.
