The Cradlepoint R1900 is Ericsson's ruggedized 5G networking platform for in-vehicle deployments. It keeps police cruisers, ambulances, buses, light rail and utility trucks connected, and IT can manage, troubleshoot and analyze every unit from the cloud. This SKU pairs the R1900 hardware with a 5-year Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials package plus the Advanced Plan. Essentials covers cloud management through NetCloud Manager, software updates and 24x7 support for the full term. The package also includes a limited lifetime hardware warranty for as long as the subscription is active. The Advanced Plan adds threat management, web filtering, application visibility, analytics, location tracking and cellular coverage maps. The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in both NSA and SA modes and falls back to LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 when a vehicle leaves 5G coverage. It offers peak rates of up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up, 4x4 MIMO and dual 4FF SIM slots. Band support covers n41, n71, n77 and CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. The modem carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network certifications. It is also FirstNet Trusted, Verizon Frontline Verified and T-Mobile Connecting Heroes certified. For onboard devices, the R1900 provides dual-band concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6, four GbE LAN/WAN ports, Bluetooth 5.2, USB, RS-232 serial and GPIO. Integration with automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems uses concurrent GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou reception. The optional RX30-POE accessory adds four 802.3bt PoE ports. The optional RX30-MC adds four GbE ports and a second modem for dual-carrier connectivity. A quad-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containers at the edge. The chassis is built for harsh environments. It carries an IP64 rating, operates from -30 °C to 75 °C, and meets MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration testing, E-Mark, SAE J1455, EN 50155 and Class I Div 2.
