The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2155 is a member of the R2100 series of 5G ruggedized routers. It is built to mount on a vehicle roof or an IoT cabinet enclosure. The modem, antennas and router share a single aerodynamic polycarbonate casing, so there are no coax runs. Mass transit, public safety and field-operations teams get current cellular performance with one cable to the cabin. This part number is the R2155 variant without Wi-Fi, sold with a 3-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan for all regions. The embedded modem supports 5G FR1 in NSA and SA modes plus LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, with 4x4 MIMO. Peak rates reach up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. Dual 4FF SIM slots support carrier redundancy. Band support includes n41, n71 and n77, as well as CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. The modem carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications. It is also FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified for priority access on public safety networks. Installation is straightforward. Connect a 9–36 VDC supply with ignition sensing, or use 802.3at PoE, then attach the single 2.5 GbE LAN pigtail. The R2155 can run as a self-contained router. It can also serve as a captive 5G modem for supported Cradlepoint controlling routers, where NetCloud treats it as an internal modem with no separate licence. Passive GNSS supports Automatic Vehicle Location integration, and a quad-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containerized applications at the edge. The unit is rated IP67 and IK09, is tested to MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration, and carries E-Mark and SAE J1455 certifications. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. The Essentials plan includes NetCloud Manager and software updates for the full term, plus 24x7 support and Enterprise Wireless University access. It also includes a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active. NetCloud Advanced can be added at any time for features such as coverage mapping. A SIM and an AC power supply are not included.
