The Cradlepoint R2105 belongs to the R2100 Series of 5G ruggedized routers, designed for vehicle and IoT deployments. It mounts on the roof of a vehicle or on an IoT cabinet enclosure. The modem, antennas, and router share a single aerodynamic, ruggedized casing, so no coax cable runs are needed. This part number, MBA3-2105-5GB-GA, pairs the hardware with 3 years of Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials and Advanced plans. The embedded modem supports 5G FR1 in NSA and SA modes, falls back to LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, and offers 4x4 MIMO with dual 4FF SIM slots. Peak rates reach up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. Dual-concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 serves nearby clients, and a single 2.5 GbE RJ45 LAN port on a fixed 380 mm cable connects to onboard equipment. Passive GNSS feeds Automatic Vehicle Location systems. The Advanced plan uses that location data to build vehicle location history and cellular coverage maps. The R2105 can run as a self-contained 5G router. It can also act as a captive modem for supported Cradlepoint routers, where NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem and no separate license is needed. Power comes from 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing or from 802.3at PoE (30 W). The housing is rated IP67 and IK09, resists salt-mist corrosion, and is tested to MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration standards. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. The Essentials package includes NetCloud Manager for management and software updates, 24x7 support, access to Enterprise Wireless University, and a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active.
