Many cellular routers and gateways use SMA antenna connectors. The Panorama SAMS-SP-SMABJ adds surge protection to those runs without introducing adapters. This multi-surge arrester has an SMA male connector and an SMA female bulkhead connector. It mounts inline between an antenna and its feeder cable, or between a coaxial cable and the radio or router it serves. The arrester operates from 0 to 6 GHz with low return and insertion loss, and it has a typical VSWR below 1.5:1. Maximum input power is 25 W, which suits light-duty surge protection on typical router antenna circuits. The body is 35.3 mm (1.39 in) long and 15 mm (0.59 in) in diameter, made of brass. It operates from -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F). The bulkhead feature does double duty. It passes the connection through an enclosure wall and earths the arrester to a conductive earth bar or panel up to 6.5 mm (0.25 in) thick. Where a panel is not practical, it can accept a heavy-duty earth tag instead.
