The Panorama Antennas C23F-5SMAP is a 5 m coaxial cable assembly terminated with an FME female connector at one end and an SMA male (plug) connector at the other. It uses Panorama's CS23 cable, a double-shielded, low-loss coax with a 5 mm diameter that Panorama specifies as equivalent to RG58/AU. SMA is one of the most common antenna connectors on routers, modems, gateways and embedded radio equipment, while FME is widely used on antenna leads because the small connector passes easily through drilled holes and grommets. The C23F-5SMAP bridges the two. An antenna lead ending in an FME male plug connects to the female end, and the SMA male end threads onto the device's SMA antenna port, with no adapter in between. The 5 m run gives room to place an antenna on a roof, mast, window or bulkhead and reach equipment installed in a cabinet, vehicle or comms room. Double shielding helps protect the RF feed from interference in electrically busy environments. Panorama publishes a datasheet for the CS23 cable used in this assembly. For IT managers deploying external antennas on SMA-equipped routers, the C23F-5SMAP is a clean, ready-made connection from the antenna lead to the device.
