The Ericsson Cradlepoint R980 is a ruggedized, secure 5G router and appliance built for mobile and IoT deployments where temperature extremes, vibration and hazardous locations are routine. This SKU pairs the R980 with Wi-Fi and a 5-year NetCloud Ruggedized IoT Essentials plan. It is a global model covering the U.S., Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. It ships without AC power supply or antennas. Four SMA cellular connectors, one SMA GNSS connector and two RP-SMA Wi-Fi connectors accept your choice of external antennas. The modem supports 5G NSA and SA from 600 MHz to 6 GHz, with LTE Advanced Pro Category 19 fallback and 4x4 MIMO. Peak rates reach 3.4 Gbps down and 550 Mbps up on NSA. 5G network slicing supports up to four DNN/PDN instances. MFF2 eSIM hardware holds up to eight carrier profiles, and eSIM carrier switching will be enabled in future NetCloud OS releases. The modem is certified on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. It also carries public safety certifications including FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile T-Priority and Verizon Frontline Network Slice.
