Synology DX1222 12-Bay Disk Expansion

Scale storage capacity without forcing a platform change. The Synology DX1222 adds 12 drive bays to compatible Synology systems, giving IT teams a straightforward path to expand storage as backup sets, shared files, and application data grow. Because it is diskless, you can match the enclosure with the drives and RAID strategy already standardized in your environment. This expansion unit is designed for teams that want to preserve operational consistency while increasing usable capacity. It fits naturally into environments where storage growth is predictable but timing is not, helping you add headroom before performance or retention windows become a constraint. For procurement teams, the diskless model also keeps the purchase focused on the enclosure itself, letting you source drives separately based on workload, endurance, and budget. DX1222 is a practical choice when the cost of outgrowing storage is higher than the cost of planning ahead. It supports a cleaner expansion path than replacing an entire system, and it helps maintain continuity for critical data services already running on Synology infrastructure.
