InHand Networks IG502-FQ33-W-G compact metal industrial edge gateway with Ethernet ports, serial terminal block and cellular, Wi-Fi and GPS antenna connectors.

The IG502-FQ33-W-G is the North America LTE Cat 1 version of InHand Networks' IG502 edge gateway with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS options. It suits projects that need location data and a wireless backup uplink but not discrete I/O. The FQ33 module covers LTE bands B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26, and dual Micro SIM slots provide carrier failover. The -W option adds 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in station (client) mode and Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE). The Wi-Fi lets the gateway join a site network as an alternative path to cellular. The -G option adds GPS satellite positioning for mobile equipment or assets spread across a wide area. Wired connections include two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports and 1× RS-232 plus 1× RS-485 on an industrial terminal block. USB 2.0 Type-A and microSD up to 32GB are also provided for local storage. The gateway runs custom Linux on an ARM Cortex-A8 at 600MHz with 512MB RAM and 8GB eMMC. It includes a Python development environment. The optional DeviceSupervisor (DSA) collects and normalizes data from Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, DNP3.0, IEC101/104, BACnet and more, and forwards it to AWS, Azure and other cloud platforms. DeviceLive provides remote access, batch operations and upgrades. A firewall, OpenVPN and IPsec VPN secure the link, while a hardware watchdog and heartbeat auto-redial keep unattended units recoverable. The fanless IP30 metal housing measures 110 × 127 × 35 mm and weighs 420 g. It mounts on a DIN rail or panel and accepts 12-48V DC. As a Wi-Fi model, it operates from -20 °C to 70 °C.

What is the difference between the IG502-FQ33-W-G and the IG502-FQ33-IO-W-G?▾

Both use the North America LTE Cat 1 FQ33 module and include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. The -IO-W-G version adds 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs with 3000 VDC isolation, which this model does not have.

Which LTE bands does it support?▾

The FQ33 module supports LTE Cat 1 on bands B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B25 and B26.

How do I connect it to cellular?▾

Insert the SIM with the gateway powered off, then power on. In most cases the IG502 detects the carrier and applies the APN automatically. If it does not connect, set the APN under Network > Cellular. A steady NET LED indicates a successful connection.

How do I access the web interface?▾

Connect over Ethernet using DHCP or a 192.168.2.x static IP. Open https://192.168.2.1 and log in as adm with the password printed on the device nameplate.

Can I run my own applications on it?▾

Yes. The IG502 provides a Python development environment on its custom Linux OS. Local applications can filter, aggregate and threshold data or bridge protocols before sending results to the cloud.
