EJ12124S16 is the 316 stainless steel version of the 12 x 12 x 4 in Eclipse Junior Type 4X junction box (305 mm x 305 mm x 102 mm); its 304 stainless counterpart is EJ12124SS. This single-door wall-mount enclosure is intended for instrument housings, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic controls, junction boxes and terminal wiring, particularly in washdown areas, very wet locations and applications where corrosion is a concern.

Construction centres on a 316 stainless body and cover with continuously welded seams, free of knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip around the opening keeps flowing liquids and contaminants out, and the seamless poured-in-place gasket seals the continuously hinged cover. Stainless steel hinges give a full 180° opening, and the quarter-turn latches, formed from 316 stainless steel, need a tool to release their slot for added safety. The finish is natural brushed stainless.

Inside the 12 x 12 x 4 in body you get 4.02 in of usable depth and a 11.25 in high x 11.25 in wide door opening. The included removable inner panel is unpainted 14 gauge galvanized steel, 10.75 in (273 mm) high by 10.88 in (276 mm) wide, fixed on tapped mounting studs. Clear space available on the door is 10.76 x 10.83 in. The unit ships at 14 lbs (6.35 kg).

For installation, 14 gauge welded mounting brackets provide 0.31 in diameter holes at 12.75 in vertical centres. Grounding is straightforward: there is a bonding stud on the door, a grounding stud on the body (10-32 thread), and the grounding and panel mounting hardware is included. Ratings cover UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IP66 to IEC 60529 (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001). A gasket retainer may be required for high temperature use; consult the factory.
