Create Free Business AccountThe 1182V24 is a 1000 VA toroid transformer with two 24 V secondaries. In series it is rated 48V C.T. @ 20.8A; in parallel, 24V @ 41.7A. It is the highest-current 24 V model in the 1182 series table, aimed at heavy 24 V loads and 48 V center-tapped supplies running from 117 VAC or 234 VAC.
The drawing lists each secondary as 24V @ 20.80 A, with #16 TEW primary leads and #10 TEW secondary leads 8"-9" long and stripped 0.5" minimum; secondaries are RED-BLU and GRY-YEL. Regulation is 2.20% (dimension reference L). The open-center toroid comes with two 0.093" x 4.75" OD rubber washers, a 16GA x 4.30" OD steel mounting washer and a 3/8-16 bolt 3.50" long with lock washer and hex nut. Shipping weight is 16.5 lbs (7.48 kg).
The toroid core gives the benefits the series is built around: low profile, light weight, cool running and high efficiency, and low stray magnetic flux leakage (low EMI). Materials are Class B (130 degree C), each unit is hi-pot tested at 4,000 VAC RMS primary to secondary, and the series holds UL recognition (UL 5085-1 / UL 5085-2, file #E207860) and CSA certification (C22.2 #66.1-6 / #66.2-6, file #209651). For installation, connect the two 117 V primaries in parallel for 117 VAC or in series for 234 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The series is designed to have all windings engaged, either series or parallel connected, or connected as an autotransformer, and a connection sheet is included with the transformer. Toroids can draw a high magnetizing current when first energized, so a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed circuit breaker or other soft-start circuit on the supply line is recommended.
