The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC400-5GB is a modular 5G modem that installs in the modem slot of MC400-capable routers. This BF-MC400-5GB kit is packaged for the E300 and E3000 enterprise branch routers. It lets IT teams move a branch to 5G without replacing the router, or add a second modem to improve availability and coverage. With two modems, the router can fail over when one connection drops. It can also switch automatically to the second modem and SIM when the primary plan's data cap is reached. The modem covers 5G FR1 in both non-standalone and standalone modes, plus LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 and WCDMA/DC-HSPA+ fallback, on 3GPP Release 15. The 5G NR band list runs from n71 (600 MHz) through n77, n78 and n79. It includes n41 and n48, and LTE coverage spans FDD and TDD bands including B71 and CBRS Band 48. Peak rates reach up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and up to 660 Mbps uplink, with 4x4 MIMO, EN-DC, and up to 7 CA downlink on LTE. Dual 4FF (nano) SIM slots support SIM-based auto-carrier selection. The module also offers passive GNSS and SMS. The MC400-5GB lists AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications, along with PTCRB and GCF. It is FirstNet Capable and supports T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline. Private cellular support includes FCC Part 96 (CBRS Band 48). The module operates from -30 °C to 70 °C and draws power over USB from the host router. The kit includes modem door covers and four external 600 MHz–6 GHz paddle antennas with SMA connectors. A 4FF SIM is required. A manufacturer datasheet is available.
