When runtime requirements exceed the built-in battery reserve, an external battery cabinet becomes a practical way to close the gap. The Vertiv PSI5-48VBATT is designed to add additional 48 V battery capacity to compatible Vertiv PSI5 UPS systems, helping sustain protected equipment through longer outages and reducing pressure on shutdown windows. This matters in environments where even a short loss of power can interrupt transactions, corrupt data, or force an avoidable service event. By expanding battery capacity externally, you can align backup power with the actual duration risk at the site instead of overbuying a larger UPS platform. For procurement and operations teams, the cabinet approach also supports cleaner lifecycle planning. It lets you scale runtime without replacing the core UPS, which can preserve the installed investment while improving resilience for branch offices, network closets, and edge deployments. Choose this cabinet when continuity requirements are growing faster than the original battery reserve. It is a focused way to add runtime headroom, improve outage tolerance, and keep critical systems protected with a configuration that fits the existing Vertiv PSI5 environment.
