Extend a router’s wired network to a remote room through existing electrical wiring rather than running a new Ethernet cable. The TP-Link Omada TL-PA7017P KIT contains two AV1000 HomePlug AV2 powerline adapters: connect one to the router by Ethernet, connect the second to a wired endpoint, then use the pairing buttons to establish the powerline link. Each adapter has one auto-MDI/MDIX Gigabit Ethernet port for a desktop, television, game console, access point, or other wired device. AV1000 powerline signaling supports a maximum 1 Gbps data rate and a stated networking distance of up to 984.3 ft / 300 m. Actual throughput depends on the electrical circuit and conditions of the building wiring. IEEE 1901 powerline support and IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab Ethernet compatibility provide the underlying network interfaces. AES 128-bit encryption protects traffic carried over the electrical wiring between paired adapters. Unlike powerline adapters that occupy an outlet completely, each unit includes an AC pass-through receptacle for a connected powered device. The 3-pin U.S. plug format suits standard grounded wall outlets. Power-saving mode reduces consumption when the connection is inactive, while each adapter’s compact 2.3 x 3.7 x 1.7 in enclosure can sit directly at the wall outlet without a separate power brick.
