Extend compatible Ethernet equipment over multimode fiber with a compact 1000Base-SX optical interface. The Signamax 065-79SXMG installs in an SFP slot, also called a Mini-GBIC slot, to provide a 1 Gbps fiber connection without consuming a fixed copper port. It is suited to switches, routers, media converters, and other equipment that accepts the required SFP optical interface. 1000Base-SX is the short-wavelength Gigabit Ethernet optical format for multimode fiber. This transceiver uses 850 nm optics and a duplex LC fiber connection, separating transmit and receive traffic across the two fiber strands. That interface is commonly used for building backbones, closet-to-closet links, server-room aggregation, and fiber-connected endpoints where copper distance limits or electrical isolation are concerns. The SFP format keeps the optical interface field-replaceable, allowing a network port to be equipped with the fiber medium required at that location. Select this SX multimode version when the connected equipment requires a 1000Base-SX SFP interface and the installed cable plant uses compatible duplex multimode LC fiber.
