Parsec PTA0736 N-Type Lightning Arrester, N Female to N Male, DC-7 GHz

The Parsec PTA0736 Lightning Arrester sits in-line on an outdoor antenna feed and diverts lightning surges and static build-up to ground before they reach indoor equipment. It is built for teams deploying pole- or roof-mounted cellular antennas feeding routers and gateways. It connects N Type Male to N Type Female, so it installs directly on standard N-type coax without adapters. RF performance is designed to stay out of the way. The arrester is specified from DC to 7.0 GHz at 50 ohms impedance, with VSWR of 1.20 or better at 3.0 GHz and 1.40 or better at 7.0 GHz. Insertion loss is 0.15 dB at 3.0 GHz and 0.30 dB at 7.0 GHz. Parsec tests it for pressure resistance and insulation resistance and states it is operational up to 6 GHz. For protection, the arrester is gas-tube based, with a 20 kA peak discharge current and a 1000 V peak discharge voltage (1x40 μs). Rated power is 300 W. Initial discharge voltages are listed at 90, 150, 230 and 350 V. It withstands a 4000 V AC pressure test for one minute with no breakdown or arcing. To work, the arrester must be properly grounded using its grounding connection and 18 AWG wire. Use one per antenna cable. Parsec's cable kits use two PTA0736 units with the 2-port Labrador and four with the 4-port Akita, Husky and Greyhound antennas. Parsec publishes a datasheet and an installation guide for this part.
