OWC ThunderBay 8 w SoftRAID

When storage needs move beyond a single external drive, the ThunderBay 8 w SoftRAID gives you a more capable foundation. Its eight SATA drive bays let you assemble a desktop array around the mix of drives your workflow demands, whether that means maximizing capacity with HDDs or pushing performance with SSDs. Support for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives keeps the enclosure adaptable as requirements change. SoftRAID adds a more controlled software RAID experience, which is valuable when the array is part of an active production environment rather than a passive archive. Combined with throughput up to 2,586 MB/s, the enclosure is built for sustained data movement across large media files, project libraries, and backup sets. That level of performance helps reduce wait time and keeps work moving. For teams that want a premium local storage solution with room to grow, this model stands out because it pairs hardware flexibility with software RAID management in one package. It is a practical choice when the cost of slower transfers, limited expandability, or fragmented storage starts to outweigh the price of a more capable enclosure.
