The 1598RCBK is a mid-size, shielded desktop instrument enclosure for printed circuit board assemblies that need more height than the slim 1598RBBBK. It targets OEM engineers and integrators who want an off-the-shelf black case with EMI/RFI protection already built in: each half is internally sprayed with a copper conductive coating rated by its maker at over 75 dB attenuation from 1 MHz to 1 GHz.

Per the series ordering table the case is 179.5 mm long, 154 mm wide and 51 mm deep, which agrees with the drawing's 179.50 x 154.00 x 51.00 mm (the part page lists a nominal 180 x 104 x 52 mm). The inner box is 167.90 x 144.49 x 46.00 mm, and the largest board it accepts is 166.90 x 140.67 mm, aligned on four 3.51 mm bosses.

The body is flame retardant ABS (UL94 V-0), designed to meet IP54 and finished in matte textured black. Front and rear panels are brushed aluminum, alloy 5052-H32, with a 142.50 x 43.00 mm viewing area outlined on the drawing. M3 Phillips machine screws thread into brass bushings, so service access does not wear the plastic.

Included with the 1598RCBK are top and bottom covers, front and end aluminum panels, 2 cover screws and 4 rubber feet. Replacement panel pairs are 1598PLC-AL, and the 1598TH1 tilt bail kit is listed for this size.
