The 1401AA is a metal instrument enclosure measuring 6 in wide, 6 in deep and 5 in high (152 x 152 x 127 mm), built for electronics designers, test-equipment builders and OEM engineers who need a finished bench-top case with easy-to-machine panels. The 1401AA shares its 6 in by 5 in front face with the 1401A but is only 6 in deep, suiting short instruments, controllers and test fixtures where bench space is limited.
The top and bottom halves are steel painted RAL 7032 (listed as gray; the series sheet describes it as beige powder coat). The 1401AA drawing specifies a 20 gauge steel body, while the series sheet lists 18 gauge steel top and bottom halves. Front and rear panels are 0.064 in thick aluminum that is easy to machine: the front is finished in textured black and the rear panel is painted RAL 7032 and vented at top and bottom for airflow.
Assembly hardware is included: eight 6-32 Philips nickel plated screws and four self adhesive rubber feet. Extra screws are available as 1421J6, a package of six #6-32 x 1/4 sheet metal screws.
The 1401AA is rated IP32 for indoor use, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships shrink wrapped at 2.01 lbs (0.91 kg). The enclosure can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
