Match the contact to a steel door opening that accepts a recessed 3/4 in device. Confirm that the security circuit requires a closed-loop contact and that the door-to-frame geometry needs a wide-gap sensing arrangement. Consider fire-rating requirements for the opening as well.
A closed-loop contact is used in a monitored circuit that remains electrically closed in its normal operating condition. When the door position changes beyond the operating range, the circuit changes state for detection by the connected security or alarm equipment.
Wide-gap sensing is relevant when recessed installation, door construction, or frame geometry produces more separation between the contact and its magnet. It gives installers a contact configuration intended for openings where a closer standard-gap arrangement may not suit the physical spacing.
The contact carries a UL fire-rated designation, making it relevant for openings with fire-rating considerations. The complete door assembly and installation method should still be selected to meet the requirements applicable to the specific opening and facility.
