Match the circuit requirement against three electrical values: 1,000 ohm nominal resistance, 1% tolerance, and 1/4 W power rating. Also verify that the circuit's calculated resistor dissipation remains within the 1/4 W rating under its intended operating conditions.
R1-B-1K-1 provides 1 kOhm, or 1,000 ohm, nominal resistance. It should be selected only where the circuit documentation calls for that resistance value, rather than another standard value used for biasing, current limiting, or signal conditioning.
A 1% tolerance means the actual resistance is controlled within 1% of the 1,000 ohm nominal value. This is relevant when circuit behavior depends on maintaining a closer resistance value than a wider-tolerance component can provide.
The 1/4 W rating states the resistor power-dissipation class. Determine dissipation from the circuit voltage and current, then ensure the expected load remains within 0.25 W under the operating conditions required by the circuit design.
