EPYC 7301 is the AMD processor model designation. UCS-CPU-7301= is Cisco's ordering code for that processor. Both names refer to the same 16-core AMD EPYC 7301 CPU configuration, with the Cisco code used when specifying the Cisco-supplied component.
Cisco UCS-CPU-7301= uses AMD Socket SP3. The target server must provide an SP3 processor socket and support the AMD EPYC 7301 configuration. Socket type alone does not establish platform compatibility because server firmware and thermal configuration also matter.
The AMD EPYC 7301 provides 16 physical cores and 32 threads through simultaneous multithreading. It has a 2.2 GHz base clock, can reach up to 2.7 GHz under turbo conditions, and includes 64 MB of L3 cache.
The processor supports eight DDR4 memory channels and memory speeds up to 2,666 MHz. It supports up to 2,048 GB of memory, subject to the DIMM population rules, memory capacity limits and supported configuration of the installed server platform.
