Match the host equipment to a QSFP-DD optical interface, confirm that the design needs two 400G LR4 links from one 800G port, and verify single-mode fiber with LC duplex terminations. The planned fiber distance must be within the 10 km optical reach.
The module provides an aggregate 800G QSFP-DD host-side connection that breaks out into two 400G LR4 optical links. Each 400G path uses an LC duplex connector, allowing two separate duplex single-mode fiber connections from the module.
Use single-mode fiber for the optical links. The transceiver has two LC duplex optical connectors, one for each 400G LR4 connection. Confirm that the installed fiber plant has compatible LC duplex terminations at both ends of each link.
Each listed LR4 optical connection supports a maximum reach of 10 km over single-mode fiber. Account for the complete channel path, including patch panels, splice loss, connector loss, and the actual installed fiber route when planning the link.
