Keep battery pack placement where it works best for the rack, not where the cable forces it. The APC SMX040 extension cable adds 6.5 ft of reach for 120 V Smart-UPS X battery pack connections, helping you separate power modules from the UPS chassis when space, airflow, or service access matters. In high-density environments, small layout decisions affect uptime. This cable gives infrastructure teams more freedom to position battery packs for cleaner routing and faster maintenance without compromising the connection path. It is a practical choice when you need to preserve rack organization, reduce strain on adjacent components, or simplify replacement workflows during planned service windows. For teams standardizing APC Smart-UPS X deployments, the SMX040 fits the role of a purpose-built extension rather than a generic power lead. That matters when you are protecting expensive UPS systems and the workloads behind them. Use it to keep installations orderly, support better access to battery modules, and maintain a professional rack presentation in enterprise or edge sites where every inch counts.
